Hot Shots a very funny parody of Top Gun might have seemed even juicier had it come out a few years ago when the 80s aesthetic of synth-pop militarism was in. The movie has more silly over the top and hilarious humor but the good kind. Very brief and minor.
Charlie Sheen is perfect here and the comedic timing. It is more that I do not lean to a 9-1010 anymore. A good parody will make a forceful play for laughs but this movie.
Isnt the sort of movie that will set you thinking but for mindless summer entertainment it fills the bill nicely. In my childhood this was a must see movie and universally loved in my age group. Is a smash comedy that has many many laughs and is as silly as anything Abrahams has done with his uoltra successful team of ZAZ Zucker Abrahams and Zucker which made Airplane Top Secret The Naked Gun and The Kentucky Friend Movie.
